DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Dominican Republic three times. I always have a blast, but one trip in particular stands out. I was meant to go with my best friend and favorite travel partner, but she tested positive for Covid the day before we were meant to go. I remember taking off from JFK by myself thinking, wtf am I doing? Where we go in the DR is not a resort town, it’s very far (physically and vibes-wise) from Punta Cana. I’ve always felt safe there, but wasn’t sure if I would put myself out there as much by when traveling by myself. But that trip ended up being one of the most fulfilling travel experiences of my life. I made friends with locals and fellow travelers, only eating a few meals on my own, otherwise eating with families I met along the way (including two different expat Thanksgiving dinners).
These photos were taken over the course of all three trips and capture the colorful, loud, and fun-loving nature of the Dominican people. Truly one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been.
